    Our team has worked 24/7 with Mojo Maritime France for the last week on the SEM-REV offshore test site off the coast from Le Croisic. The goal was to replace a defective connection box which was preventing electrical connection to marine energy (wind and wave) converters.
  • FORESEA Project Marks Project Successes at ICOE Drinks Reception

    Since its launch, FORESEA has increased real-sea testing activity in the ocean energy sector. Ten projects have hit the water at European test centres with FORESEA support, with more to come in the next 18 months. To mark this success, a drinks reception will be held at ICOE2018 on Wednesday 13 June. A fourth and final call for applications to the FORESEA programme is open until 29 June 2018.

    After two years of construction in Saint-Nazaire port, the floating wind turbine is now fully operational and will be towed and moored at the Centrale Nantes' offshore test site. SEM-REV, which is located 20 km off the coast from Le Croisic, is the first site French multi-technology offshore test site connected to the power grid.This project is supported by an original consortium bringing together a start-up - Ideol, a large group - Bouygues Construction and an engineering school and its research laboratories - Centrale Nantes.

  • A new research project on dynamic cables for floating MRE devices: OMDYN2

    The OMDYN2 project - selected during the France Energies EMR ITE 2017 call for projects and with ANR (French National Research Agency) funding - was launched on 10 January. Following on from OMDYN1, Centrale Nantes is participating in the scientific management of the project, notably through the SEM-REV offshore test site, LHEEA teams and involvement of the GeM laboratory.

Successful applicants will receive free access to a world-leading network of testing and research infrastructure. Support packages will help commercialise offshore renewable energy technologies by giving free access to FORESEA’s network of test sites. The call is open to technologies ready to deploy complete testing before 2019. The call is open until 29 September 2017. The sea test site of Centrale Nantes SEM-REV is one of the FORESEA test center.

    The Floatgen project for the first offshore wind turbine in France, which is soon to be completed in the Port of Saint-Nazaire, received the “prix Energies Renouvelables” (Renewable Energies Award) for the 2017 Trophées de la Transition Energétique (Energy Transition Trophy) organised by L'Usine Nouvelle during a ceremony on Tuesday 16 May in the presence of Jean Jouzel, climatologist and former vice-president of the IPCC.
